24 David Ross was born in Cromarty, Scotland.  The home he was born in is still standing and is a historical landmark.  He took part in the Crimean War in her majesties navy and was present at the taking of Sebastapol.  Most of the exact information about his family is sketchy, but his obituary notes that he was the son of John Ross and grandson of David Ross, all of Cromarty.  David died in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, alone in the forest, apparently either having lost his way or had a heart attack while hunting.
